SYDNEY -- Lionsgate Entertainment Corp. cemented its move into Oz late last week with a takeover bid for Magna Pacific, a listed Brisbane-based home entertainment distributor.
Deal was cut by the new chairman of Lionsgate Australia, Simon Franks, who moved Down Under from the U.K. late last year.
Magna Pacific is the largest independent DVD distributor in Australia and New Zealand, with a multi-genre catalog of more than 1,000 titles.
Shingle recently branched into theatrical distribution, current slate includes "Becoming Jane" from helmer Jullian Jarrold and WW1 epic "Flyboys."
