Fangoria Entertainment has established a feature division and tapped studio exec Brian Witten to head up the banner.
Fangoria Films will focus on original horror-genre projects and forge alliances with studios and indies production and distribution of Fangoria-branded features.
Witten's served stints as a senior VP at New Line, overseeing "Final Destination," "The Wedding Singer" and "American History X"; and as exec VP at Paramount, shepherding "The Longest Yard," "Four Brothers" and "Mission: Impossible III."
While head of Witten Pictures, he developed a new version of "Friday the 13th" at New Line with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes; a feature based on Stephen King's short story "The Breathing Method"; and "Killers of the Dead" with JC Barros directing.
Fangoria Entertainment operates the 28-year-old monthly magazine, subscription-based broadband TV site, a radio show on Sirius and the Fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards show. It will launch a line of comicbook titles this year.
