Harris has been Daily Variety's film editor and before that covered a number of beats for the newspaper.
"Dana will bring great energy and creativity to Variety.com, and will help accelerate its remarkable expansion pace," said Peter Bart, Daily Variety editor-in-chief.
In addition to these responsibilities, Harris will supervise Daily Variety's multiplatform initiatives in the areas of television, radio and mobile communication.
She will continue to write the Knife, a Variety.com blog she created to cover Hollywood's culinary and dining scene.
The food blog taps into her background as associate editor for Fine Cooking, restaurant critic for New Times and chef for a now-defunct Dallas restaurant. She's also been managing editor of the Independent Film & Video Monthly and film critic-feature writer for the Star-Ledger in New Jersey.
