Lee leaving Microsoft

Allard to replace exec

Bryan Lee, the former Sony Pictures exec who helped to lead Microsoft's moves into the entertainment biz, has ankled the software giant after more than six years on the job.

Lee originally worked on business development around the launch of the original Xbox in 2000, then became corporate VP of the entertainment business, where he has overseen business strategy for the company's TV, video, and music efforts.

Most recently, he led the launch of the Zune digital music and video player, which has had a slow start in its effort to challenge Apple's market-dominating iPod.

J Allard, who came with Lee from Xbox team, will now take over full responsibilities for the Zune product line.
