NAACP Theater fetes Wolfe

Honoree is Shakespeare Festival vet

Writer-director-producer George C. Wolfe will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 17th annual Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP Theater Awards.

A winner of multiple Tony, Obie and Drama Desk Awards, Wolfe also received a DGA Award for HBO's "Lackawanna Blues." He was producer of the Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival for more than a decade and was named a Living Landmark by New York Landmark's Conservancy in 2005.

Past recipients of the award include Billy Dee Williams, Ben Vereen, Robert Guillaume and August Wilson.

Thesps Chandra Wilson and Steve Harris will host the awards show, which will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the DGA.
