TV2 Denmark signs deal with Disney

VOD pact is major's first in Scandinavia

By
LONDON — Buena Vista Intl. Television has inked a video-on-demand deal with pubcaster TV2 Denmark.

Move will see forthcoming episodes of "Desperate Housewives" available to download on TV2's Sputnik subscription based broadband service up to seven days before their TV broadcast.

This Danish deal marks Disney's first agreement in Scandinavia for VOD rights to its network series.

The service kicks off Feb. 1 when the first episode of series three and all the series one and two shows will be available to download at www.sputnik.dk.

Each episode from the new series will cost $2.60 a pop, with archive shows available as part of Sputnik's standard $7.30 a month subscription fee.

"Desperate Housewives" has already proved a hit in Denmark on free TV. Series two snared an average 40% share of the 15-50 demographic.
