Warner Bros. plans Imax release for '300'

Launch to coincide with domestic opening

Warner Bros. is planning an Imax release of "300" in about 55 venues on March 9, simultaneously with the domestic opening of the actioner.

"300" will digitally re-mastered and released into 40 domestic locations along with 15 overseas.

Imax noted that the actioner, directed by Zack Snyder and based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, will be the first feature to launch in Imax theaters this year.

"300" is centered on the battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fought the Persian army to the death. It's a Mark Canton/Gianni Nunnari production and stars Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, David Wenham and Dominic West.
