Gold Circle fathers 'Daughter' film

Brooks will produce Connolly adaptation

Gold Circle Films has acquired John Travis' horror thriller spec script "The New Daughter," based on a John Connolly short story.

Gold Circle will fully finance the project, adapted from Connolly's recent collection, "Nocturnes." Script concerns a single father who moves his two children to a home in rural Illinois near a burial mound that may be the key to his daughter's increasingly ominous behavior.

Gold Circle topper Paul Brooks will produce, with the shingle's Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt exec producing.

Gary Oldman recently optioned Travis' supernatural thriller "Redwood" as a vehicle to produce and star in. Connolly's novel "Bad Men" is being adapted by Stephen Susco and Sobini Films into pic project "Sanctuary."

Universal is set to release Gold Circle's "Because I Said So," with Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, on Feb 2. Shingle's "My Sassy Girl," directed by Yann Samuell and starring Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford, just wrapped; it's due to start production in March on "Town Creek," with Joel Schumacher directing and Lionsgate handling domestic distribution.
