NBC Universal's Jung faces charges

Former treasurer indicted on two counts

Former NBC Universal treasurer Victor Jung has been charged with stealing $813,000 from the company to pay for private jet flights to the Caribbean and a summer rental in Southampton.

Jung, 34, who oversaw all of NBC U's accounts, cash management and financial reporting, was indicted on two counts of wire fraud by a federal grand jury in New York. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

According to the indictment unsealed on Thursday, Jung repeatedly used company coin to pay the tab for personal extravagances such as private flights to Miami, Antigua and the Turks and Caicos Islands catered with expensive liquor.

Indictment alleges Jung wired $387,189 to Marquis Jet Partners to cover the cost of the flights.

Jung, who lives in Manhattan and worked at 30 Rock, also used company funds to pay for a $56,000 summer rental in the Hamptons and to cover his personal $87,416 Amex bill.

The transfers were made from NBC U accounts to a dummy company Jung set up for his own benefit, NBC U Media Prods.

The alleged thefts occurred between November 2005 and May 2006.

"When we discovered the potential integrity breach, we promptly brought it to the appropriate authorities and are cooperating fully with the investigation," NBC Universal said in a statement.

An attorney for Jung told Bloomberg News that he plans to plead not guilty.
