PARIS -- Pascale Ferran's earthy cross-class romance "Lady Chatterley" and Rachid Bouchareb's politico-historical combat film "Days of Glory" tied for film of the year at Gaul's eighth Golden Stars of Cinema awards Monday night.
Alan Resnais won helmer honors for "Private Fears in Public Places."
Philippe Lioret's "Don't Worry, I'm Fine" picked up screenplay for Lioret and Olivier Adam as well as femme newcomer for Melanie Laurent, who plays a young woman whose twin brother disappears.
It also was one of the pics made by producer of the year Christophe Rossignon and was distribbed by distributor of the year (for the third time in a row) Stephane Celerier of Mars Distribution.
Thesp Roschdy Zem won first film honors for his helming debut, "Bad Faith," in which he co-stars with Cecile de France, who won the actress prize for that perf as well as her role in "When I Was a Singer" by Xavier Giannoli.
Actor honors was a tie between Jean Dujardin for spy spoof "OSS 117" and Francois Cluzet for "Tell No One."
The composer known as M won for his "Tell No One" score.
Thibault Vincon won male newcomer for his turn as a student in "Poison Friends."
Jean-Philippe Klotz won the docu prize for his harrowing indictment "Kigali, des images contre un massacre."
A Golden Star of Honor went to Anthony Minghella.
Several hundred France-based journos specializing in film are eligible to vote for the Golden Stars, which were handed out at Pierre Cardin's cultural center with the fashion designer and patron of the arts on hand.
The evening kicked off with Oscar-winning French composer Gabriel Yared ("The English Patient") and a 12-piece orchestra performing a program of excerpts from his film scores.
