Coachella lineup announced
Reunited Rage to perform at festival
Jesus and Mary Chain, who haven't issued an album in nine years, will perform on opening day, a Friday, on a bill headlined by Bjork, Interpol and Arctic Monkeys.
Day two's closing acts will be Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Tiesto and the Decemberists. Sunday will feature a reunited Rage Against the Machine, Manu Chao, Air, Happy Mondays and Willie Nelson. More than 30 acts appear on each day's bill.
The largest music festival in the U.S., the three days feature several hot up-and-comers including Gogol Bordello and Silversun Pickups on April 27; the Good, the Bad and the Queen, Regina Spektor and Peter Bjorn and John on April 28; and Lilly Allen, Spank Rock and Lupe Fiasco on April 29.
Veteran acts on the bill include Jarvis Cocker, Sonic Youth and Gillian Welch (April 27), Travis, Fountains of Wayne and Roky Erickson (April 28), and the Roots and a freshly reunited Crowded House (April 29).
Tickets go on sale Saturday.
A Coachella fest dedicated to country music will be held the following weekend, May 5 and 6, featuring Lucinda Williams, Neko Case, Ricky Skaggs, the Flatlanders and Emmylou Harris.
