Garcia goes to Guardtec

Actor Andy Garcia has joined Phoenix Pictures' Mike Medavoy as advisory board members for South Korean production company Guardtec.

Medavoy and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" producer Lucas Foster each invested $256,000 in the company in September.

Guardtec prexy Jonathan Kim says the company hopes to use its high-profile advisors' know-how to craft high quality product for the U.S. Project details will be released in the near future.

Originally a security systems manufacturer, Guardtec acquired production house Dyne Film early last year and ceded the reins to Dyne topper Kim. The company's market capitalization stands at $29 million.
