BERLIN — In view of its increasingly diverse channel portfolio, MTV Networks in Germany has changed its name to Viacom Germany.
The Berlin-based company, which changed its moniker at the beginning of 2007, currently operates music vid webs MTV and Viva, tyke channel Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.
In 2004, Viacom took over MTV rival Viva, which included two music channels. MTV converted one of those, Viva Plus, into Comedy Central. MTV originally operated two music webs of its own here, one of which was relaunched as Nick in 2005.
"This step reflects the group's expansion of the past few years," said Viacom Germany managing director Catherine Muehlemann. "We have developed from a music broadcaster into a broadcasting group with specialized channels for the entire 3-to-49-year-old target group."
Viacom Germany's channels air in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
