Lionsgate lands 'Bass'

Studio hooks comedy about competitive bass fishing

Lionsgate has hooked spec script "The Bass Master," a broad comedy penned by Tab Murphy and Devin Maurer that Todd Garner will produce through his shingle Broken Road Prods.

Pic will be set in the world of competitive bass fishing.

Deal marks the first script sale for Maurer.

Murphy's writing credits include animated pics "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Atlantis."

Garner, formerly with Joe Roth's Revolution Pictures, and Matt Alvarez produced upcoming sequel "Are We Done Yet?" starring Ice Cube. Garner also produced Nicolas Cage starrer "Next" with Norm Golightly, Cage's producing partner.
