Rothstein rises at NBC U TV

Exec named senior VP cable programming

NBC U TV Studio has upped Richard Rothstein to senior VP of cable programming.

Rothstein, who has served as the studio's programming exec on "Battlestar Galactica" and other skeins, will primarily oversee development of NBC U-produced programs for NBC U-owned cablers USA Network and Sci Fi. He reports to NBC U TV Studio prexy Angela Bromstad.

Rothstein had been veepee since arriving at NBC U in October 2004. In addition to "Battlestar," he has worked on NBC U skeins such as "Eureka," "Psych" and the upcoming Debra Messing limited skein "The Starter Wife." He's also overseeing development for "Battlestar" prequel "Caprica."

Rothstein also does some work in broadcast development, reporting to NBC U drama veep Laura Lancaster.

Before joining NBC U, Rothstein was a supervising producer for "America's Next Top Model." He also spent three years developing telepics for the Thomas Carter Co. and worked as director of longform at the NBC network in the mid-1990s.
