Based on Kay Thompson's classic series of children's books, the live-action feature is scheduled to shoot this year in Paris, New York and London, for release in spring 2008.
Script is written by Janet Brownell and Erin Joslyn. Casting is underway for the eponymous heroine, a six-year-old girl, as well as other roles.
Cole, whose credits include "Calendar Girls" and "Saving Grace," commented, "Even though she was created in the '50s, Eloise is in many ways the embodiment of a modern girl — independent, resourceful, spirited and inquisitive. It is these attributes, coupled with the magical quality of the 'Eloise' adventures, which really drew me to the project."
