Story concerns a happily married couple whose lives are disrupted after an unexpected tragedy and the intensely emotional, redemptive journey they must undertake to regain happiness.
Kidman will produce via her Fox-based production shingle Blossom Films.
Production and development of the pic will be overseen by Per Saari, Blossom's head of production and development.
Other films in development under Blossom's first-look deal with Fox include Jez Butterworth's "Headhunters," Karen Lutz's "Bachelorette Party" and an untitled thriller written by Simon Kinberg.
Kidman recently wrapped New Line's "The Golden Compass," the first film in Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. She will next be seen in Noah Baumbach's upcoming pic for Paramount Vantage and in Warner Bros.' "The Invasion" opposite Daniel Craig.
Lindsay-Abaire wrote the first draft of "The Golden Compass." He also adapted the Cornelia Funke novel "Inkheart" for New Line.
Kidman is repped by CAA, Lindsay-Abaire by Gersh.
