DoCoMo, Japan's largest mobile phone company, started its partnership with NTV last February, when the two companies agreed to cooperate in the production of mobile phone content.
To that end, the partners launched D.N. Dream Partners, a ¥10 billion ($84 million) content fund, last April. Structured as a seven-year limited liability partnership, the fund has since contributed coin to the two hit "Death Note" pics, as well as NTV toon series "Sasami."
In April NTV also started providing programming to DoCoMo's one-segment terrestrial digital broadcasting service for mobile phone users.
DoCoMo has strengthened its ties with the network, the company said in a statement, with the aim of providing "a variety of exciting new services" to customers.
"The relationship between broadcasting and mobile communications become closer than ever before," the statement noted, and DoCoMo intends to narrow the gap even more with its NTV stake.
