Lopez will host the upcoming Miss America pageant from the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas on Jan. 29. Event will be televised by the Country Music Television network.
He replaces "Desperate Housewives" co-star James Denton, who emceed last year's show.
On "Dancing," which was a huge hit for ABC, Lopez and dancing partner Karina Smirnoff were runner-up to Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke.
