Net Friday pulled the plug on William Shatner-hosted quizzer "Show Me the Money" and the Taye Diggs drama "Day Break." Both shows are off the air, effective immediately.
Decision to dump "Day Break" isn't a surprise. Skein was headed off the air at the end of December anyway (Daily Variety, Dec. 6); it'll now leave two weeks earlier than planned.
"Show Me," however, had been doing acceptable, if disappointing, numbers -- until last week, when it cratered in the Nielsens. ABC had even ordered more episodes and announced plans to move the show to Tuesdays in January.
While gameshows remain red-hot in development, their on-air track record this year has been mixed at best. NBC's "Deal or No Deal" remains a hit, while "1 vs. 100" has done OK.
But Fox killed "The Hit List" after just one episode, and "Show Me" is now on hiatus.
Alphabet will air a mix of repeat and original episodes of "America's Funniest Home Videos" Tuesdays from 8-9 p.m., starting this week.
On Wednesdays, ABC will launch its new comedy block this week rather than next month. It'll start with a mix of holiday-themed repeat episodes of "George Lopez" and "According to Jim."
As for Fridays, ABC has decided to air repeats of "Brothers & Sisters" at 9 p.m. starting Jan. 12. Encore showings of "Grey's Anatomy" remain Fridays at 8.
ABC plans to air the remaining segs of "Day Break" on ABC.com.
