'Potter' to remain on library shelves

Mom's attempt to ban book fails

Despite a mother's objections, "Harry Potter" will remain on the library shelves in a Georgia county's school system.

The Georgia Board of Education upheld the decision Thursday made by the Gwinnett County school board to keep the "Potter" books available for students to read.

Laura Mallory, a mom with three children in elementary school who has tried to get the books removed, says "Potter" is an attempt by author J.K. Rowling to have kids learn witchcraft.

"It's mainstreaming witchcraft in a subtle and deceptive manner, in a children-friendly format," Mallory said.
