Affiliate-based numbers for NBC suggest that the New Orleans Saints' 42-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys should come in with about an 8.2 rating in adults 18-49 and more than 20 million viewers overall. This would make it among the four top football scores of the season for the Peacock, whose "Sunday Night Football" will finish the season among primetime's top 10 programs among young adults.
CBS also benefited from football action, as its roughly 25-minute overrun from the San Diego-Denver NFL game should come in with about a 5.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 19 million viewers overall to dominate the opening half-hour of primetime. Also for the Eye, the season finale of "The Amazing Race" should deliver about a 4 rating in 18-49 and 12.9 million viewers overall.
At ABC, a two-hour seg of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" performed well from 8 to 10 (5.3/12 in 18-49, 14.3 million viewers overall), and an original episode of "Brothers & Sisters" held in there at 10 (4.0/10 in 18-49, 10.5 million viewers overall) without a lead-in from "Desperate Housewives" for the first time.
Fox was paced by "The Simpsons" (4.1/10 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) and a repeat of "Family Guy" (3.6/8 in 18-49, 7.5 million viewers overall).
Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 6.2/15; ABC, 4.3/11; CBS, 4.0/10; Fox, 3.1/8; Univision, 1.4/3; CW, 1.2/3.
In total viewers: NBC, 15.5 million; CBS, 14.5 million; ABC, 12.3 million; Fox, 6.6 million; CW, 3.3 million; Univision, 3.3 million.
