BUENOS AIRES -- Israel Adrian Caetano's political thriller "Cronica de una fuga" (Chronicle of an Escape) nabbed 11 nominations, including one for actor for Rodrigo de la Serna, in Argentina's film awards, the Condor de Plata.

"Cronica" was in competition at this year's Cannes festival.

Alejandro Doria's "Las manos" (The Hands), based on a priest's life, snagged nine noms, with leading actors Graciela Borges and Jorge Marrale up for prizes. "Manos" is a contender for Spain's 2007 Goya Awards.

Daniel Burman's father-and-son drama "Ley de familia" (Family Law), Argentina's candidate for a foreign-language Oscar nomination, followed with eight noms, with Daniel Hendler up for actor and Julieta Diaz for actress.

Pablo Trapero's drama "Nacido y criado" (Born and Raised) also snared eight mentions, including original screenplay and breakout actor for Tomas Lipan.

All four will compete for best picture and director along with Marcelo Pineyro's job-interview expose "El metodo" (The Method).

Rodrigo Moreno will compete for director with "El custodio," a Berlin, Guadalajara and Sundance-laureled bodyguard drama that's also a contender for debut feature.

Foreign pic noms went to Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' "Little Miss Sunshine," Martin Scorsese's "The Departed," Bahman Ghobadi's "Turtles Can Fly," Hany Abu-Assad's "Paradise Now" and Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne's "L'enfant."

Winners will be announced early in 2007 at a date to be set.

Considered the country's most prestigious kudos, the Condor de Plata awards have been presented by Argentina's Film Writers Assn. since 1942.
