CW imports Brit 'Model'

Network to feature U.K. version of hit U.S. reality show

'America's Next Top Model'

Two specials focusing on the British skein that gave rise to 'America's Next Top Model' will be aired over the CW.

"Britain's Next Top Model" will hit the colonies later this month, as the CW airs two specials featuring moments from the U.K. version of its hit "America's Next Top Model."

"Next Top Model: British Invasion" -- a recap of "Britain's Next Top Model's" first season -- will air from 8-10 p.m. on Dec. 13 on the Green net. "Next Top Model: British Invasion 2" -- a summary of season two -- airs the following week.

The specs rep the first airing of foreign editions of a popular reality format on a U.S. broadcast network. (Cablers such as Fox Reality have run overseas versions of reality shows familiar to U.S. auds, however.)

LivingTV runs "Britain's Next Top Model" in the U.K., having licensed the format from CBS Paramount Intl. TV. Versions of the "Top Model" format also are produced in Australia, Canada, the Philippines, Germany, Russia, China, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Holland, Thailand, Norway, Turkey and Brazil.

The first season of "Britain's Next Top Model" included former supermodel Lisa Butcher, model Marie Helvin and hair/makeup specialist Jonathan Phang. Phang returned for season two, paired with models Paula Hamilton and Lisa Snowdon.
