Sources close to the actor said there was no blow-up that precipitated his decision, nor dissatisfaction with the job the agency had done. Rather, the notoriously selective actor simply wondered why he needed an agency.
Grant has landed most of his jobs through his relationships with filmmakers and producers such as writer-director Marc Lawrence ("Music and Lyrics" and "Two Weeks Notice"); the Weitz brothers ("American Dreamz" and "About a Boy") and Richard Curtis ("Love Actually" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral"). Both "Bridget Jones" films came out of his relationship with Working Title, with whom Grant also made "Notting Hill" and "About a Boy."
Grant, who isn't expected to sign with another agency, has decided to let the work find him and is keeping on an attorney to make his deals.
