Lifetime sets up date game

Cabler greenlights Endemol USA skein

Lifetime has greenlit the dating show "Gay, Straight or Taken?" from Endemol USA ("Deal or No Deal").

Skein sends one woman on dates with three men -- one gay, one straight and one taken -- with the goal of selecting the lone straight, single man from the bunch. If she chooses correctly, she wins a grand prize for two. If she chooses incorrectly, the man she picks receives all the winnings.

Cabler has ordered 18 half-hour episodes for a premiere on Jan. 8. Joe Livecchi exec produces.

"We're always seeking to bring relatable programming to audiences. This show really turns stereotypes on its head," said Endemol USA prexy David Goldberg.

Endemol also produces "Big Brother," "1 vs. 100" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
