'Awesome' deal set for scribes, Fox

Studio buys up Arnold, Poole's 'Captain'

Scribes Mike Arnold and Chris Poole have sold their spec "Captain Awesome" to Fox Atomic. Mark O'Connor is producing.

Pic's plot is being kept under wraps.

Project marks the second consecutive collaboration for the trio. Arnold and Poole recently sold spec "The Grackle" to New Line, where it's a starring vehicle for Matthew McConaughey. O'Connor is producing with McConaughey's j.k. livin' producing shingle.

After the sale of "Grackle," Fox Atomic, Fox's new teen-oriented genre label, mobilized to make a blind deal with Arnold and Poole. As part of the deal, Fox Atomic was granted a two-day first look at the duo's new spec, which they quickly bought.

The scribes still have not quit their day jobs as attorneys. Arnold lives in Colorado and Poole is a federal prosecutor in Tennessee. They eventually plan to move to Los Angeles.
