June Raphael and Casey Wilson will write a new draft of the screenplay, which originated in 2004 at Miramax as a pitch from scribe Greg DePaul. The project shook loose after Harvey and Bob Weinstein left that studio.
The comedy pits best friends against one another when the prospective brides have a wedding-date clash and neither will step aside.
Hudson has been sweet on the project for two years, and she will produce with Firm Films' Julie Yorn and Alan Riche of Sunrise Entertainment.
Raphael and Wilson first became known for their two-woman comedy sketch show "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet," and they are now story editors for the CBS animated series "Creature Comforts," a midseason replacement hatched by the creators of "Wallace and Gromit."
The scribes are repped by UTA, with Raphael managed by Jon Rubinstein and Wilson by Principal's Meg Mortimer. Hudson's repped by CAA and the Firm.
