GreeneStreet Films has bought "Adverbs," the 2006 novel by Daniel Handler, who writes kidlit books under the Snicket moniker.
Handler will pen the screenplay. Ross Katz, who produced GreeneStreet co-production "In the Bedroom" as well as current period pic "Marie Antoinette," will produce.
Novel is a series of interconnected stories about love, with characters fading in and dropping out of storylines. Each tale is grouped under a different adverb. Book was published by the Ecco Press, imprint of Snicket publisher HarperCollins.
GreeneStreet co-topper John Penotti said the project could retain many of the interconnected stories despite book's disparate nature, though it's also possible the film will concentrate on just a few.
Handler previously penned pics "Kill the Poor" and "Rick."
Gotham-based GreeneStreet is concentrating on more star-driven projects as it opens an L.A. office under auspices of production chief Tim Williams.
