Osofsky is currently serving exec director of the union representing 1,400 faculty members at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. During her three years at the association, she's been responsible for leading and supporting negotiations, contract administration, and legal issues, as well as internal organizing among the membership.
Osofsky will be based in AFTRA National offices in New York.
"Debra will solidify our work in the broadcast area with new energy and a vision for the future," said AFTRA National exec director Kim Hedgpeth, "This is of critical importance at a time when media consolidation, corporate layoffs, and the digital revolution are having a profound impact on AFTRA members' lives and livelihoods."
Osofsky served for nine years as an attorney and senior contract administrator with the Air Line Pilots Assn., where her duties included contract negotiations, arbitration hearings, training pilots in grievance processing and basic representation.
