Five counts out program topper

World Brief

Blighty's under-performing terrestrial web, Five, has lost its program topper following the appointment of another exec above him.

Program director Dan Chambers is ankling, as Lisa Opie, former Flextech managing director, is appointed to the new post of managing director of content.

CEO Jane Lighting paid tribute to Chambers' three-year tenure as program supremo. But behind-the-scenes unrest over his inability to generate homegrown hits and boost Five's flagging ratings has made his departure inevitable.

Five is owned by pan-European broadcasting giant RTL.
