'Blood' flows earlier

'Diamond' to shine on Dec. 8

Warner Bros. Pictures has moved up the release date of Ed Zwick's "Blood Diamond" by one week to Dec. 8.

Also opening on Dec. 8 are Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto"; Nancy Meyers' romantic comedy "The Holiday," starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black; Warners' teen comedy "Unaccompanied Minors"; and the Weinstein Co.'s "DOA: Dead or Alive," which MGM is releasing.

"It made sense to put it up on screens as early as possible," Warner Bros. prexy of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said.

Pic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connelly, is set in Sierra Leone in the 1990s, when a civil war enveloped the country.
