Warner Bros. Pictures has set "Blood Diamond" scribe Charles Leavitt to adapt Vanity Fair editor Doug Stumpf's unpublished book "Confessions of a Wall Street Shoeshine Boy."
Donald De Line Pictures and Paula Weinstein's Spring Creek Pictures are producing the legal thriller.
Storyline revolves around a Brazilian shoeshine guy, who works at a preeminent New York financial institution, and a reporter who exploits his relationship with the shoeshiner to uncover corporate crimes taking place at the Wall Street firm.
Warners snapped up pic rights to Stumpf's tome in June 2005. HarperCollins is the publisher.
Warners opens "Blood Diamond" Dec. 15. Leavitt has several scripts in development around town, including adapting Dave King's "The Ha-Ha" for Warners.
Weinstein, who is a producer on "Blood Diamond," also produced upcoming Warner pic "The Astronaut Farmer."
Both Weinstein and De Line have first-look deals with Warners. De Line's shingle is shooting adventure comedy "Fool's Gold" for the studio. Bernie Goldmann and Jon Klane also are producing.
Leavitt is repped by Paradigm.
