NBC has given a put pilot commitment to the project, which would come from NBC Universal TV Studio, BBC Worldwide Prods., Silverman's Reveille shingle and the Farrellys' Conundrum Entertainment.
Laffer takes on the often-taboo topic of disability by centering on an unlucky guy who becomes friends with a man who uses a wheelchair -- and moves into his home for the disabled.
Peter Farrelly is aboard to direct, while he and his brother Bobby will exec produce, along with Calhoun (who'll write), Silverman, Bradley Thomas and Kenton Allen.
The Farrellys have dabbled in TV before, including the Fox pilot "Why Blitt?" Their next projects include pic "The Seven Day Itch."
Beyond "Friends," Calhoun's recent credits include "Sons & Daughters," "Teachers" and "What I Like About You."
