Pic ready to 'Rock'

Henson Co. hires scribe for 'Fraggle'

Finally moving ahead after years of online rumors, the Jim Henson Co. has taken the first step toward turning '80s HBO kids show "Fraggle Rock" into a feature.

Indie production and puppetmaking company has tapped Ahmet Zappa to write a treatment for a pic starring the peace-loving underground denizens.

Film is expected to follow characters from the skein on an adventure in "outer space," aka the world of humans.

Henson Co. co-topper Lisa Henson is producing. Her brother and co-CEO Brian Henson will exec produce with Zappa and Jason Lust.

The "Fraggle Rock" TV show preemed in 1983 and aired for five seasons in multiple territories. First two seasons were released recently on DVD.

Zappa's writing credits include "The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless," which Jerry Bruckheimer Films is producing for Disney.
