The move gives the ambitions Zodiak a valuable foothold in the dynamic British independent production sector and may be the first of other U.K. acquisitions.
Owner FBC Group has sold Diverse, which specializes in arts-based reality shows such as "Ballet Changed My Life" and "Operatunity," for an undisclosed sum.
Diverse managing director Paul Sowerbutts said: "This is fantastic news for Diverse — we are confident that joining such a vibrant, distribution-driven group as Zodiak will deliver a wealth of new opportunities for us.
"Patrick Svensk [CEO of Zodiak] has already expressed his commitment to continuing to build on our recent U.K. and U.S. success stories, as well as opening up new distribution avenues internationally, and we are full of optimism as we embark upon this new chapter of our growth."
Svensk, president and CEO of Zodiak Television, said, "I am really pleased to welcome Diverse to the Zodiak group and I know that the management team will contribute significantly to the group's future development in, for instance, creativity, exploi-tation of rights, and acquisition of formats and other rights."
In the U.S. Diverse makes "Shalom in the Home" for TLC. Under its new owner, a priority will be to grow combo's U.S. activities.
