Meanwhile, CBS has given soph Bruckheimer drama "Close to Home" a greenlight for the entire year.
At ABC, "Brothers & Sisters" joins "Ugly Betty" as the second Alphabet skein to secure a "back nine" commitment. That puts the Alphabet web ahead of other nets in terms of frosh pickups; CBS and NBC have given back nine orders so far to one new show apiece.
Produced by Touchstone TV, "Brothers & Sisters" is the second-highest rated new skein of the season in adults 18-49, behind only NBC's "Heroes." The show won its timeslot on Sunday night, securing a 4.9 rating/12 share in the demo -- scoring well particularly with women 18-49 (7.2/17) and women 25-54 (8.2/18).
ABC Entertainment prexy Steve McPherson, who announced the pickup Monday, said "Brothers & Sisters" provides ABC with "a strong complement to 'Desperate Housewives.' "
Drama -- which revolves around the inner workings of a tight-knit California family -- comes from exec producers Ken Olin, Jon Robin Baitz and Greg Berlanti. Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Sally Field, Ron Rifkin, Patricia Wettig, Balthazar Getty, Matthew Rhys, Dave Annable, John Pyper-Ferguson and Sarah Jane Morris star.
As for "Close to Home," the Bruckheimer and Warner Bros. TV skein has performed decently for the Eye in its Friday-night home, averaging 11.6 million viewers so far this season -- up 5% from last year.
