'Dreadful' project wins Fox approval

Hemingson's 'Children' gets greenlight

Fox has greenlit a pilot presentation of "Two Dreadful Children," an animated project from Dave Hemingson ("American Dad").

"Children" revolves around a family of rednecks who discover that their disobedient kids -- fraternal twins who lack any moral compass -- are actually geniuses. Twentieth Century Fox TV is behind the project, to be written and exec produced by Hemingson.

"Children" is part of a renewed push by Fox to develop animated skeins to complement the net's existing stable ("The Simpsons," "Family Guy," "American Dad" and the upcoming return of "King of the Hill"). Fox Entertainment prexy Peter Liguori told reporters last summer he's eager to find at least one more animated skein for his Sunday night sked.

Fox has already greenlit another animated comedy presentation, "Animals," from 20th, Happy Madison and scribes Robert Smigel and Greg Cohen (Daily Variety, Sept. 29).

Beyond "American Dad," Hemingson's credits include "Kitchen Confidential," "Cracking Up" and "Just Shoot Me."
