Hourlong airing Monday-Saturday will star former "World Poker Tour" host Shana Hiatt, with six poker pros vying for a winner-take-all $120,000 prize.
Show replaces a repeat of "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on weeknights. On Saturday, an edited recap of the week will air at 1 a.m. following "Saturday Night Live."
"After Dark" reps NBC's first attempt to place original programming in a timeslot known more for repeats and infomercials.
"There's a vibrant latenight audience looking for original programming," said NBC Universal Television prexy Marc Graboff. "We felt this inside look at the professional poker scene is perfect for latenight television."
Set in various casinos on the Las Vegas strip, "Poker After Dark" will follow a weekly tournament featuring the tour's top pros, including Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer and Jennifer Harman.
Producers Mori Eskandani and Eric Drache have produced poker shows for NBC, GSN, Fox Sports Net and CBS.
Show will debut Jan. 2.
