STOCKHOLM — In an unusually strong year for Norwegian film, humorous drama "Reprise" by helmer Joachim Trier has been chosen as Norway's entry for the foreign-language Oscar.
Pic, which won the prize for best director at the Karlovy Vary Film Fest and the $10,000 Diesel Discovery Award at Toronto, opened in Norway on Sept. 8.
Produced by Karin Julsrud for production company 4 ½, Trier's debut feature is a story of friendship and madness, love, disasters and youthful recklessness.
Nordisk Film Sales is handling international sales.
"Reprise" was selected from an impressive lineup of candidates, including Cannes entries "The Bothersome Man" by helmer Jens Lien, "Uro" by Stefan Faldbakken and CGI toon "Free Jimmy" by Christopher Nielsen, as well as "Sons" by Erik Richter Strand and "Comrade Pedersen" by Hans Petter Moland.
