Before the "Rotten" series, Stine had become the Stephen King of the elementary school set. He created the mega-selling "Goosebumps" series and penned "Fear Street" and "The Nightmare Hour."
The "Rotten" books are written as laffers for tykes. Series centers on the zany boarding school adventures of Bernie Bridges as he schemes against his teachers and rival students.
HarperCollins bowed the series last year with "The Big Blueberry Barf-Off!"; the eighth title, "The Teacher From Heck," was recently released, and a ninth, "Party Poopers," is due out in November.
HarperCollins and Fox are both owned by News Corp.
