Sound Bite

Never one to go gently into the night, Joe Eszterhas has resumed his trash-talking ways with the publication of his latest tome. The scribe -- who once threatened to mobilize his foot soldiers against Mike Ovitz -- has been busy dishing while tubthumping "The Devil's Guide to Hollywood."

His latest threat: a musical version of "Showgirls," the ridiculous pole-dancing pic starring Elizabeth Berkley. This tuner, he promises, will celebrate the project's "over-the- top and campy nature."

As if Paul Verhoeven's movie didn't.
