Wagner spent her first day in C/W's offices Tuesday fresh from the Venice Film Festival where she served as prexy of the Opera Prima Jury.
"For the moment, we are renting space here in this building and getting our feet wet," she told Daily Variety. "It's business as usual right now. We are continuing what we've always done -- looking for movies, working on scripts and meeting people -- but it's also fresh because its a new direction and a new location. Tom and I both are really optimistic about the future."
Picking up the tab at the new location are C/W's new biz partners Washington Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder, NVR chair Dwight Schar and Six Flags prexy-CEO Mark Shapiro.
Following a bit of bad press at the hand of Sumner Redstone (who shocked the shingle by saying the studio would be parting ways with the pair on Aug. 21), Wagner seemed eager to get organized in their new surroundings and to zero in on their next project using a creative boost from her Venice trip.
"It was a fascinating experience -- I was so taken by the unusual, fresh and interesting landscape of cinema. And it was very inspirational for me now in getting back to what is our basic business, making movies," she said, noting that her jury awarded top prize to indie Mongolian fable "Khadak."
