Silbermann
Recently named ICM co-prexy Chris Silbermann won't have much time for sleep this year, having also been named president of the Hollywood Radio & Television Society.
Silbermann officially takes the reins today, as the HRTS kicks off its 60th anniversary by holding a "newsmaker luncheon" featuring a Q&A with CBS chief Leslie Moonves.
Effective with Silbermann's tenure, the term of HRTS president and other top posts has been extended to two years. That means Silbermann will serve as president of the org until 2008.
He takes over from producer Andy Friendly, who had served as HRTS prexy since 2004 under two consecutive one-year terms.
Silbermann most recently was treasurer of the HRTS, and he chaired the org's "State of the Industry" luncheon (as well as co-chairing past "Network President" and "Hitmakers" luncheons).
"Chris is one of the smartest and best people in the industry and is the perfect choice to lead this important organization into its seventh decade," Friendly said. "His commitment and dedication to the HRTS has and will continue to make a huge impact."
Joining Silbermann on the HRTS board for the two-year term are re-elected VP Andrea Wong, ABC Entertainment's exec VP of alternative programming, series and latenight; and secretary/treasurer Peter Jankowski, prexy of Wolf Films.
Also, appointed to the board are FremantleMedia North America CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz; 20th Century Fox TV co-prexy Gary Newman; and entertainment lawyer Kenneth Richman.
New to the board are Lionsgate TV programming/production prexy Kevin Beggs; HBO Domestic TV distribution prexy Scott Carlin; Warner Bros. TV creative affairs exec VP Len Goldstein; William Morris Agency worldwide head of scripted TV and programming Aaron Kaplan; TV Guide Channel topper Ryan O'Hara; and Sony Pictures TV programming/production co-prez Zack Van Amburg.
