Thesp has 'Evening' plans

Wilson in Focus for pic

Patrick Wilson has signed on for Focus Features' "Evening," the bigscreen adaptation of Susan Minot's bestselling novel. Lajos Koltai will direct.

Story centers on a 65-year-old cancer patient -- to be played by Vanessa Redgrave -- who reflects on a weekend in her youth when she met the love of her life (Wilson), as her two daughters try to come to terms with her impending death. Claire Danes, Toni Collette and Hugh Dancy round out the cast.

Minot and Michael Cunningham adapted the novel and will exec produce the pic. Jeff Sharp and John Hart are producing through their Hart-Sharp Entertainment.

Wilson next stars in New Line Cinema's "Little Children," in theaters Oct. 6, followed by "Running With Scissors" and Ed Burns' "Purple Violets."
