Bravo goes 'Under' Oct. 2

Net picks up hit HBO drama

'Six Feet Under'

Bravo is digging up HBO mortuary drama 'Six Feet Under,' with the series to preem Oct. 2 on the basic cabler.

"Six Feet Under" will make its off-HBO debut Oct. 2 on Bravo.

The NBC Universal-owned cable network spent more than $15 million for exclusive four-year syndication rights to all five seasons, or 63 episodes, of the mortuary drama (Daily Variety, March 10).

Bravo will air the episodes back-to-back in a 2½ hour block Mondays. Night has a legacy as Bravo's home for drama, previously housing repeats of NBC's "The West Wing."

Senior VP of programming and production Frances Berwick noted the scheduling, which gives each episode a 75-minute slot, allows the episodes to run virtually in their entirety.

"Our goal was to retain as much of the integrity of the original as possible," Berwick said. "Very minimal editing was done to make it fit basic-cable standards. All of the show's stories and plotlines are very much intact."

"Six Feet Under" follows the Fisher family, who own and operate a funeral home in Los Angeles. Alan Ball created and exec produced the series.
