College ball hits the Web

CSTV offers streaming vid of sporting events

CBS-owned CSTV Networks, launching today a network of 100 Web sites full of streaming video of live college football games, coaches shows and other college sporting events.

Coke, State Farm and Pontiac lead advertiser support for the games. Some of the games will be free to the public and others will cost a subscription fee of between $4.95 and $9.95 a month. For a comprehensive package of all 100 broadband channels, the monthly fee will be $14.95.

Colleges on board include Miami, Navy, North Carolina, Notre Dame, USC and Ohio State. The umbrella Web site is Cstvxxl.com.

Not all of these schools will be able to stream all of their games on broadband, said prexy-CEO Brian Bedol, because the colleges have different rights deals.
