Pic, which stars David Duchovny and Sigourney Weaver, follows a neophyte scribe as he steers a fictional skein through a gantlet of stars, managers and a severe network exec (Weaver).
Distrib is planning a spring 2007 release.
Kasdan and Aaron Ryder produced; director's former TV partner Judd Apatow ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin") and Kasdan's helmer father Lawrence Kasdan exec produced. Ron Schmidt co-produced and Carey Deitrich associate-produced.
ThinkFilm is gearing up for a busy year: It will release John Cameron Mitchell's controversial "Shortbus" in October and also is currently distributing school tale "Half Nelson," which is earning early kudos buzz for star Ryan Gosling.
"Set," which drew media attention at Tribeca this year, is filled with people who grew up around Hollywood. Weaver's father Pat was a longtime NBC exec who brought high culture to the net, while Lawrence Kasdan is a director and writer who worked on such pics as "Silverado" and "The Big Chill."
The younger Kasdan ("Orange County") worked for several years in the television business himself, directing episodes of the cult hit "Freaks and Geeks" as well as "Undeclared."
