Film is loosely based on 2002 South Korean pic "Jungdok."
Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist, who helmed the acclaimed Swedish film "The Invisible," will direct from a screenplay by Michael Petroni.
Story revolves around a woman whose husband and brother-in-law end up in a coma after a horrible accident. When the brother-in-law wakes up, he says he is her true husband.
Producers are Bob Yari, Vertigo's Doug Davison and Roy Lee, Spitfire's Guy East and Nigel Sinclair. Spitfire's Alexander Brunner and Vertigo's Sonny Mallhi exec produce. Yari Film Group production topper Brad Jenkel brought in the project.
Project reunites Gellar with Vertigo, which produced "The Grudge" and "The Grudge 2" (latter bows on Friday, Oct. 13). Vertigo also produced "The Ring" and "The Ring 2."
Gellar has just wrapped production on "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing." After "Grudge 2," she'll next been seen in thriller "The Return," due out in November.
