Initial spells new VP

Rembert named veep of development

Former DreamWorks development exec Grey Rembert -- who headed up the studio's literary department-- has been named VP of development for Graham King's Initial Entertainment Group.

Rembert will focus on the development of both screenplays and books, working closely with senior VP of creative affairs Jennifer Wachtell. Rembert will report directly to King.

Rembert reported directly to Steven Spielberg at DreamWorks. She was responsible for acquiring books, including James Bradley's "Flags of Our Fathers," the adaptation of which hits the bigscreen this fall. She also bought Mark Levy's "If Only It Were True," which was adapted into Reese Witherspoon-Mark Ruffalo starrer "Just Like Heaven."

Rembert joined DreamWorks at the studio's inception, coming over from Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment. She began at Amblin as an assistant to Kathleen Kennedy and worked her way up to assistant head of the lit department.

Among his current book projects, King is producing adaptations of "Prince of Thieves" and "Benighted" for Warner Bros., where he has a first-look deal.

Elsewhere on IEG's slate, King produced two high-profile WB pics bowing this fall, Martin Scorsese's "The Departed" and Ed Zwick's "Blood Diamond."
